Softpak is committed to ensuring a safe environment

Your business is a valuable target. Cybercriminals are lying in wait for your data, whilst extortionists, thieves and drug traffickers have their sights set on your goods. The logistics sector is a complex arena where countless threats lurk. How do you protect your business and your cargo against these multifaceted dangers? Read how Softpak has recently invested in innovative solutions to make your logistics chain more secure.

Softpak is committed to ensuring a safe environment for both customers and staff.
By taking proactive measures, we are making it increasingly difficult for criminals to strike. The impact of crime on the logistics sector is significant.

Recent incidents, such as large-scale IT hacks, drug smuggling via terminals, theft of valuable cargo and the extortion of staff, highlight the need for proactive security measures.

Let’s take a look at a few projects where we’ve really made a difference in terms of safety.

Time-slot systems

Challenges with self-registration

Time-slot systems improve efficiency, but are also susceptible to abuse. For example, criminals may attempt
to intercept visit numbers and direct other hauliers
to the DC. To counter this, we are introducing
mandatory number plate registration when booking a time slot.
By checking for changes to the vehicle registration number, we can detect irregularities and block access.

Chain of trust

Prevent the trade in PIN codes

Portbase Secure Chain is an innovative solution that replaces the old
method of PIN-based access. Instead
of PINs, a centralised system is now used in which the freight forwarder nominates a trusted carrier directly from Softpak
. The carrier must
identify themselves using an ID verified by Portbase in order to gain access to the cargo.

Passport scanners

Stop fraud involving fake IDs

It is difficult for our staff to verify the authenticity of ID documents. Criminals may try to gain access to our premises using forged documents.

That is why we are introducing passport scanners. This advanced technology scans and verifies identity documents in real time, enabling us to combat fraud effectively.

Multi-factor authentication

An extra layer of security

Employees’ login details are a valuable target for cybercriminals. They can use them to steal trade secrets, gain physical access to goods or even encrypt files (ransomware). To minimise these risks, we are implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). MFA requires an additional verification step. This extra layer of security applies to both the Softpak application and the web portal.

Number plate recognition

Quick and secure access

When gates are fully automated, checking number plates can be a challenge. To simplify this, Softpak offers integration with Licence Plate Readers (LPRs). This automatically scans a vehicle’s number plate and verifies it against pre-registered data. This ensures fast and secure access for authorised vehicles.

Camera integration

Improve security

By linking CCTV footage to visitor records, we can significantly improve security on your premises. For example, we can check whether a driver has gone to the correct loading/unloading point and whether any unusual activities have taken place. This helps to prevent incidents and identify any potential problems.

Softpak is more than just a supplier of software solutions. We are your partner in security. Together, we work on solutions tailored to your specific needs. Whether it’s protecting your staff, safeguarding company data, securing your cargo or optimising your processes, we are here to help. Naturally, we always operate in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations.
